Hundreds of Saskatchewan motorists are feeling the bite of the province's tougher new traffic laws, especially people who drink and drive.
Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) says over the past month police issued almost 900 sanctions for impaired driving.
These included licence suspensions and immediate roadside vehicle seizures.
Some drivers also had their vehicles seized for excessive speeding, driving unregistered vehicles and for texting or using cellphones.
In total, 515 motorists received license suspensions and 785 vehicles were seized for various infractions.
The new laws went into effect June 27 following sobering statistics that showed 134 people were killed in collisions on Saskatchewan roads and highways last year and 6,762 were hurt. (CKRM)
