Saskatchewan parents who called their babies Liam or Emma last year helped keep the names on top of the province's favourites list.

Liam was tops for the fifth year in a row and Emma was the most popular girl's name for the sixth time running.

The second most-popular names were William and Olivia.

Noah, Mason and Jacob rounded out the five favourite boy names, while Sophia, Emily and Ava did so for girls.

Carter, Lucas, Ethan and Lily dropped out of the Top 5.

The province says there have been 15,773 births registered so far in 2014 — an increase of 551.
