Police are searching for a suspect who shot at an RCMP officer early this morning near Osler, Saskatchewan.

The Mounties say an officer stopped to check on what he thought was an abandoned car on the side of Highway 11.

A man inside the car got out of the car and shot at the officer, who was not injured and returned fire before the black Cadillac CTS with no licence plate sped off towards Saskatoon.

Police in Saskatoon have been notified and are working with the RCMP to locate the vehicle.

Mounties have closed the southbound lanes of Highway 11 near Osler for their investigation.

Police say the man is armed and dangerous and the public should not approach him or the vehicle.
