Regina police say they have laid charges against a woman who allegedly used an axe to rob a business on Boxing Day, then confronted police with a needle.

Police say a woman entered the business wearing a mask and carrying an axe.

After demanding money, an employee followed her and there was a short physical confrontation before the suspect got away.

Police found her nearby and took her into custody without incident but say she later became confrontational at the hospital and came at police with a needle, resulting in a Taser being deployed on her.

Sarah Stevenson, 32, has been charged with robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, two counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
