A 31-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with stealing two poppy boxes earlier this week.

Angela Orr is charged with theft under $5,000.

She will return to court Nov. 30.

Lloyd Meier, president of the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Moose Jaw, says he's pleased police were able to make a quick arrest in the case.

He says the stolen boxes had about $40 in them.

He says the community has been very supportive, coming to the legion and offering additional donations to make up for the lost funds.

"I've had people come to me...talking to me about how much in disgust they are about the poppy boxes being stolen."
