A woman from Grenfell, Sask., says she tried to keep a secret — she'd become a millionaire — and planned to visit her son in Calgary for Easter and break the news to him in person.
But Adreen Nunnelly, who won $1 million on the Feb. 1 Lotto 649 draw, couldn't contain the good news.
She ended up telling her son early, though she'll still head to Calgary this weekend for a celebration.
Nunnelly says she realized soon after the draw that she won, but decided to try to keep it to herself for a few months.
She already has a list of things she wants to do with her windfall, including renovations on her home, visiting a retreat in Arizona and going to Las Vegas to see a Brooks & Dunn concert.
Most importantly, Nunnelly says the win will let her spend more time with her family.
"How does it get any better than that?" she asked. "What else is possible?"
