A search for a snowmobiler and her sister who may have had an accident while sledding in east-central Saskatchewan has been put on hold by the RCMP.

The search started near Carrot River after a woman told Mounties on Saturday about a wrong number call from a person named Cassandra, who said she and her sister had crashed into a tree near the community.

Cassandra was trying to call her grandmother and told the woman she was disoriented and couldn't remember the number.

The number she was calling from was blocked and SaskTel was not able to help police track down her location.

Ground and air searches of the area were carried out and officers checked with the hospital, schools and community members for possible leads.

No one has filed a missing persons report, but police say they still want to find out if the pair are safe. (CJME)
