The Crown says a 54-year-old man who was robbed, beaten and stuffed into the trunk of a car before being slain was told by his killers to "pray to his God."
Joshua Wilson, 26, Johnathon Peepeetch, 26, and Dennis Thompson, 35, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Shawn Douglas in August 2014.
In his opening statement, Crown prosecutor Derek Maher said Douglas was out with a group of people having pizza when he met two of the accused and ended up going to a house party.
Maher says the evidence will show people there decided to rob him, and drove him to an ATM where he was forced to withdraw money before his credit card was used to buy cigarettes.
The prosecutor says witnesses in the area recorded Douglas being forced into the trunk of the vehicle, and that the court will see the video.
He suggests the men then drove Douglas out of town and beat him to death, dumping his body in a thicket where it was found two days later.
One youth has already pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced in February.
