Pakistan captain Azhar Ali won the toss and chose to bat first against Sri Lanka in the second one-day international at Pallekele International Stadium on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka made two changes from the side that lost the first in the five-match series, giving a maiden international cap to allrounder Sachith Pathirana. He takes the place of legspinner Seekkuge Prasanna, who conceded a lot of runs in the first match.
The 26-year-old Pathirana was the second new player introduced by Sri Lanka in the series, the first following the retirements of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara.
Pathirana, a left-handed batsmen and left-arm spinner, has played in 66 limited-over matches for 1,257 runs and 86 wickets.
Milinda Siriwardana made his international debut in the last match.
Also, seam bowler Suranga Lakmal was dropped and replaced by Nuwan Pradeep.
Pakistan was unchanged.
