Aurimas Majauskas scored 17 points with 11 rebounds and Sam Houston State beat SE Louisiana 70-63 on Monday.

Majauskas was 6 of 9 from the floor for the Bearkats (9-8, 4-0 Southland), who shot over 45 per cent. Dakarai Henderson scored 12 points despite shooting 2 of 10 from beyond the arc.

Moses Greenwood led SE Louisiana (2-14, 0-3) with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Zay Jackson scored 15 points with seven boards and Jordon Capps added 13. The Lions were just 8 of 17 from the line.

Capps' layup with 3:59 tied it at 57. Sam Houston State scored the next eight points — including six straight free throw attempts. SE Louisiana got within four with 27 seconds left, but Henderson got loose for a dunk and Majauskas made a pair at the line with 12 seconds to go for an eight-point advantage.

The teams were tied at 31 at the break.
