Anthony Beane scored eight of his 21 points in overtime and Southern Illinois beat Sam Houston State 86-81 on Saturday.
Beane was 7 of 17 from the floor with three 3-pointers. Sean O'Brien scored 17 points, Leo Vincent added 16 and Mike Rodriguez chipped in 13 points with five assists for Southern Illinois (4-0), which snapped a 10-game road losing streak.
Dakarai Henderson scored 18 points to lead Sam Houston State (1-2). Aurimas Majauskas added 16 points.
Vincent made a 3-pointer to give the Salukis a 77-72 lead with 2:24 left. Jamal Williams made a jumper and Jalin Barnes converted a 3-point play to send it to overtime.
Sam Houston State led 36-18 with four minutes left in the first half before the Salukis closed on a 15-1 run to pull to 37-33 at halftime. Beane scored five points, and Rodriguez and Bola Olaniyan scored four apiece during the span.
