Bill Tierney, who led the University of Denver to its first NCAA men's lacrosse championship last season, is getting a contract extension through 2022.

Tierney is entering his seventh season with the Pioneers. After winning six NCAA titles at Princeton, he's 83-25 in Denver. Overall, he's 355-118 in 31 seasons as a head coach.

His contract had been extended two years ago through the 2017 season.
