The Toronto Blue Jays signed pitcher Joba Chamberlain to a minor-league contract on Tuesday.

The right-hander was released by the Detroit Tigers on July 10.

In 30 games with the Tigers this season, Chamberlain was 0-2 with a 4.09 earned-run average. He had 15 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.

He's spent parts of nine seasons with both Detroit and the New York Yankees, collecting a 25-21 record, seven saves and a 3.82 ERA.

Chamberlain, 29, won a World Series with the Yankees in 2009.
