Trent Brittain ran for two scores and threw for another to lead Incarnate Word to a 30-3 win over Houston Baptist on Saturday.
The victory gave Incarnate Word (6-5, 5-4 Southland Conference) its second winning season and first winning conference season. The Cardinals, who finished fourth in conference standings, are in their third season as a member of NCAA Division I.
The Cardinals were ahead 7-0 when Myke Tavarres forced a fumble and Padyn Giebler grabbed it and ran 47 yards for the score.
Brittain scored on running plays twice in the first half to help Incarnate Word to a 21-3 lead at the break.
Incarnate Word finished with 256 total yards while limiting Houston Baptist (2-9, 0-8) to 154 yards.
Houston Baptist's Max Staver was held to 27 yards passing, completing just 5 of 19 attempts. Larry Day and B.J. Kelly had 59 yards apiece rushing.
