Canadian diver Celina Toth earned her first international medal on Saturday with a silver on women's 10-metre tower at the eighth stop on the FINA Grand Prix circuit.
Siyu Ji of China took the gold with 368.05 points, Toth followed at 319.65 and Jun Hoong Cheong of Malaysia was third at 310.85.
It was Toth's first competition since the World University Games this past July where she placed fourth. The native of St. Thomas, Ont., said she wasn't sure what to expect.
"I was a little nervous at the beginning of the week because I wasn't training so well," she said. "I gained more confidence through the prelims and semis. I'm super excited about what happened."
Toth produced a consistent performance in the final averaging 7.0s on four of her five dives the final.
"This was a strong field to face," she said. "I knew it was probably going to be close in the final. It's good to have that experience."
