Montreal Canadiens forward Zack Kassian was treated for minor injuries in hospital Sunday morning after being involved in a traffic accident, a team spokesman said.

Reports said Kassian was not driving the vehicle, which crashed into a tree Sunday morning at about 6 a.m.

There were two women, one of them the driver, in the vehicle at the time.

The Canadiens, who played a pre-season game in Ottawa on Saturday night, were given Sunday off and resume practice on Monday.

Kassian, 24, was acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks in the off-season.
