Cricket Australia XI captain Ashton Turner won the toss and elected to bat first Thursday in the three-day tour match against New Zealand at Sydney's Blacktown International Sportspark.
The CA XI includes Australia hopefuls opener Aaron Finch and allrounder Cameron White, who were late inclusions to the side after being domestic excused Sheffield Duties with Victoria state.
New Zealand fielded a strong lineup led by Brendon McCullum for its final warmup ahead of the first of three tests against Australia starting Nov. 5 at Brisbane's Gabba ground.
