Five things to know about Day 13 of competition at the Rio Olympics:
WHAT A DEBUT — Andre De Grasse of Markham, Ont., continued his impressive Olympic debut by winning the silver medal in the men's 200-metre final. The 21-year-old finished in 20.02 seconds, just behind Jamaica's Usain Bolt, who took gold for the third consecutive Olympics in 19.78. Damian Warner, of London, Ont., captured bronze in the decathlon. He finished the 10-discipline competition with 8,666 points. Defending champion Ashton Eaton of the U.S. won gold with 8,893 points while France's Kevin Mayer took silver with 8,834 points.

GOLDEN HAUL — Erica Wiebe of Ottawa won Canada's fourth gold medal in Rio, giving Canada its highest gold tally since the 1992 Barcelona Games. The 27-year-old from Ottawa beat Guzel Manyurova of Kazakhstan in the final of the 75-kilogram category. With the victory, Wiebe follows in the footsteps of two-time Olympic medallist Carol Huynh, the winner of Canada's first-ever gold in women's wrestling in Beijing eight years go, and Tonya Verbeek, who finished on the podium at three separate Games.
---
DOUBLE BRONZE — Canada's Meaghan Benfeito won her second bronze medal of the Games, finishing third in the women's 10-metre platform event. The 27-year-old from Laval, Que., finished with an overall score of 389.20. Her teammate and synchro partner Roseline Filion placed sixth with 367.95. China finished 1-2, with Ren Qian capturing gold, and silver going to Si Yajie. It's Benfeito's first individual medal in Rio after winning bronze with Filion in the 10-metre synchronized event.
---
MOVING ON UP — Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., made her move in the second round of women's golf. She drained five consecutive birdies to finish Thursday at 7-under 64. That helped her shoot up the leaderboard and into a tie with Britain's Charley Hull for third in the event. South Korea's Inbee Park and American Stacy Lewis are first and second while Henderson and Hull are three shots back. Hamilton's Alena Sharp (69) is tied for 32nd at one under.

ESCAPING DEBRIS — Canada's Tory Nyhaug made it safely through the wind and the wrecks at the BMX track to move into the semifinals. Nyhaug, from Coquitlam, B.C., placed first, first and second in his heat's three runs of the course to qualify for the semis of the men's BMX. Two-time defending gold medallist Maris Strombergs of Latvia and reigning world champion Joris Daudet of France weren't as fortunate. Nyhaug was shut out from the podium in London four years ago.
