The Arizona Diamondbacks have selected the contract of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Reno.

The move came as the Diamondbacks placed catcher Tuffy Gosewisch on the 15-day disabled list with an ACL injury.

To make room for Saltalamacchia on the 40-man roster, Arizona transferred catcher Oscar Hernandez to the 60-day disabled list.

The Diamondbacks signed Saltalamacchia to a minor league contract after he was released by the Miami Marlins on May 9.

Gosewisch, the team's everyday catcher this season, was injured trying to beat out a throw to first base on a ground ball Wednesday night in St. Louis.
