Chace Franklin scored 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting to lead five players in double-figure scoring as Jackson State defeated Mississippi Valley State 77-62 Saturday night.

Raeford Worsham added 15 points and nine rebounds, Paris Collins and Janarius Middleton added 13 each and Yettra Specks 10 for Jackson State (11-10, 6-2 Southwest Athletic Conference). The Tigers remain in a cluster with Southern (7-2) and Alcorn State (6-3) behind unbeaten Texas Southern (8-0) in the SWAC.

Marcus Romain led the Delta Devils (3-19, 3-5) with 13 points and Isaac Williams added 10.

After several early lead changes, Jackson State took the lead for keeps when Middleton scored to spark a 12-0 run midway through the first half. The Tigers didn't look back, leading by as many as 18 points.

Jackson State shot 52 per cent for the game (31-59), outscored MVSU 36-18 in the paint and scored 21 points off 16 MVSU turnovers.
