Ethan Werek scored 2:34 into overtime as the Charlotte Checkers held on to beat the Manitoba Moose 3-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.
Brody Sutter had a goal and an assist and Brendan Woods scored the other for the Checkers (23-12-2), who were ahead 2-0 before Manitoba came back to earn a point.
John Albert opened the scoring for the Moose (11-20-5) late in the second period before Austen Brassard tied the game at 14:26 of the third.
Charlotte's Daniel Altshuller made 27 saves for the win as Eric Comrie kicked out 25-of-28 shots for Manitoba.
The Checkers went 0 for 1 on the power play while the Moose failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
