Ex Ex Ex held off a late run from Amazing Anne and won the Cab Calloway Division of the New York Stallion Series by a half-length Monday at Saratoga Race Course.
Ridden by Jose Lezcano for trainer Gary Contessa, Ex Ex Ex ran one mile in 1:36.95 over a firm inner turf course and returned $24, $11 and $7.30 as the longest shot in a seven-horse field at odds of 11-1.
Amazing Anne paid $6.50 and $4.10 for second, three-quarters of a length ahead of Memories of Peter, who returned $4.70.
A 3-year-old son of Read the Footnotes, Ex Ex Ex was making his seventh start, all this year and more than doubled his purse earnings to $109,743.
