Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas got a taste of hockey on his visit for the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Williams driver who played hockey while growing up in Finland took a tour of the Bell Centre and the Montreal Canadiens museum this week.

"Really impressive," the 25-year-old said Thursday. "I didn't actually know they had a hall of fame museum there and, being a big ice hockey fan always and a Saku Koivu fan as well, it was great to see the history of the team."

Koivu played 13 seasons, the last 10 as captain, for the Canadiens from 1995 to 2009. He played his last five seasons for Anaheim and retired after the 2013-14 season.

"He was obviously a big hero in Finland," added Bottas.

Bottas said he played hockey for about 10 years. A year ago, he took part in a video for European television in which he skated in a hockey shootout against Russian Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat.

He will drive in his second Canadian Grand Prix after finishing seventh last year. After six races this season, he is fifth in driver standings.
