Fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc has been left out of France's 31-man squad for the World Cup in favour of Frederic Michalak.

France coach Philippe Saint-Andre also omitted forwards Xavier Chiocci, Sebastien Vahaamahina, Yoann Goujon and centre Remi Lamerat.

Trinh-Duc, who played in the 2011 final, had been given a chance to impress in the first match against England last week — which France lost 19-14.

The 28-year-old was left out of Saturday's 25-20 win, when Michalak kicked 17 points to become France's highest ever points scorer.

France plays Scotland in its final warmup match on Sept. 5. It travels to England on Sep. 12, a week before its opening World Cup match against Italy at Twickenham.

The three-time runner-up also faces Romania, Canada and Ireland in Pool D.
