Former Australia striker Josh Kennedy, who played the majority of his football career in Germany and Japan, announced his retirement Friday following a 15-year career.
The 32-year-old Kennedy played with Nagoya Grampus in Japan from 2009 to 2014 before joining A-League side Melbourne City in January. He also played for nearly a decade in Germany.
The tall forward, who sustained a number of injuries during his career, played 36 internationals for Australia, scoring 17 goals.
His most important international goal came in Australia's final qualifier for the 2014 World Cup. After not playing for the Socceroos for a year, he came on as a 77th-minute substitute and scored with an 83rd-minute header to secure a 1-0 win and a spot in Brazil.
