Canada missed out on a chance to qualify for next year's World Rugby Under-20 Championship, falling 49-24 to Georgia on Sunday at the U20 Trophy 2015 final.
Left wing Giorgi Kveseladze scored two of Georgia's seven tries as his team won the eight-team, second-tier tournament to advance to the elite U20 championship.
Luke Bradley scored two tries for Canada, which had gone undefeated in three previous games at the tournament. Captain Lucas Rumball had another.
"It feels wonderful," Georgia captain Badri Alkhazashvili said. "We have not won any game like this in our history. … I am really proud of my boys."
Georgia started the game aggressively, pinning Canada in their own 22 for long stretches of the first 40 minutes and scoring four tries for a 24-0 lead.
Rumball crossed the line in the corner to stem the flow and cut the deficit to 24-7 just before the half. Bradley scored twice in the second half.
Earlier, Uruguay secured third place by edging Tonga 43-42 while Fiji beat Namibia 36-24 for fifth place. Host Portugal took seventh place with a 47-21 win over Hong Kong.
