Isaac Williams scored 17 points and helped Mississippi Valley State edge Alabama A&M 79-73 Monday night.

Williams was 6 of 11 from the field, including three 3-pointers for the Delta Devils (2-15, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic). Marcus Romain scored 14 points with seven rebounds and Damian Young added 13 points. MVSU shot nearly 52 per cent, including 9 of 14 from beyond the arc.

Alabama A&M (5-8, 1-3) was led by Ladarius Tabb with 19 points. Nicholas West had 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, with four blocked shots and tied a career-high with 15 rebounds — including seven offensive boards. Rashawn Green added 15 points on five 3-pointers and Rakiya Battle chipped in with 10 points. The Bulldogs shot 39.7 per cent, made 7 of 25 3-point attempts and 16 of 28 (57 per cent) from the line.
