Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes left Thursday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays due to soreness in his left side.

He grounded out in the bottom of the first inning and appeared to be favouring his left oblique area as he jogged back to the dugout at Rogers Centre. Once he sat down, he slammed his helmet to the ground in frustration before walking down the steps towards the locker-room area.

Backup infielder Ryan Goins, who was recalled earlier in the day from triple-A Buffalo, replaced Reyes in the lineup.

Reyes entered the game with a .333 batting average and five RBIs this season.
