Sierra Leone forward Kei Kamara scored his Major League Soccer-leading 13th goal of the season in the first half as Columbus beat the Chicago Fire 1-0 on Wednesday night, the Crew's first away victory of the season.

Kamara scored in the 41st minute for his third goal against the Fire this season. He leapt above a defender to head home Ethan Finlay's cross as Columbus won at Chicago for the first time since 2006.

Chicago's Sean Johnson denied Kamara's close-range shot in the 15th minute and got a hand on another long Kamara's shot in the 34th. He won a one-on-one battle with Finlay in the 61st and dived to block Federico Higuain's free kick in the 64th that had slipped through the wall.

Chicago's Harry Shipp narrowly missed a free kick in the 76th and Jason Johnson sent a header wide in the 90th.

The Fire will play at Columbus on Sunday.
