Kwadwo Poku scored two second-half goals to help New York City FC tie the Columbus Crew 2-2 on Wednesday night in a game delayed 1 hour, 14 minutes in the 77th minute because of a thunderstorm.
New York City FC (7-11-7) pulled into a sixth-place tie with Montreal and Orlando City in the Eastern Conference, while Columbus (9-8-8) remained third.
Kei Kamara opened the scoring in the 24th minute for Columbus. Ethan Finlay easily beat three defenders and crossed to Kamara just outside the middle of the 6-yard box. Kamara's sliding left-footed tap-in beat goalkeeper Josh Saunders for his MLS-leading 18th goal.
David Villa played through three defenders and passed to a charging Poku, who tapped it past goalkeeper Steve Clark in the 57th minute. Poku scored on a header in the 66th minute.
Cedrick scored in the 72nd minute off Kamara's assist.
