Louisville sophomore 7-footer Anas Mahmoud is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks after tearing the medial meniscus in his left knee.

The forward/centre from Egypt will have surgery Thursday morning at Jewish Hospital East to repair the injury sustained when he twisted the knee while playing basketball. A school release on Wednesday said Mahmoud should be able to play with the Cardinals during their tour in Puerto Rico Aug. 10-17.

Mahmoud had 35 points, 41 rebounds and 20 blocks in 29 games with Louisville last season.
