Markus Thormeyer won the men's 100-metre freestyle at the Canadian swimming championships on Friday.

The 17-year-old Tsawwassen, B.C., native came from behind to beat Pan American Games teammate Stefan Milosevic in 50.21 seconds.

"I wasn't out as fast as I would have liked, but that's what I'm working on," Thormeyer said. "I've been working on my push-offs and I usually make up some time later on. This race showed (me) what I want to work on."

Milosevic finished second while Shane Ryan took bronze. Ariane Mainville took the women's 100 freestyle in 55.72 seconds.

Ryan wasn't done there, winning gold in the men's 50 backstroke.

Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson won the women's 400 medley in four minutes 42.61 seconds. Luke Reilly beat Pan Am Games teammate Alec Page in the men's race — finishing in 4:17.48.

Jason Block finished first in the men's 100 breaststroke for his second gold of the championships, swimming the race in 1:01.02. Kelsey Wog also won her second gold of the competition by capturing the women's 100 breaststroke.

Ingrid Wilm added to her impressive Canadian championships with a first-place finish in the women's 50 backstroke. It was her second gold in two days, finishing the race in 28.45 seconds.

Edmonton Keyano Swim Club 1 won the women's 4x200-metre freestyle relay in 8:16.75. UBC Dolphin Association 1 took gold in the men's race in 7:24.87.
