Michael Mersch had a goal and an assist and Peter Budaj made 23 saves as the Ontario Reign downed the Manitoba Moose 4-1 on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

Valentin Zykov, Sean Backman and Ryan Horvat also scored for the Reign (22-10-3).

Nic Petan was the only Moose (11-22-5) skater to beat Budaj. Eric Comrie turned away 27-of-30 shots in a losing cause.

Ontario went 2 for 2 on the power play while Manitoba failed to score on its two chances with the man advantage.
