Nate Engesser made five 3-pointers and scored 25 points to help Denver beat Idaho State 79-69 Wednesday for the Pioneers' fourth straight victory.

Idaho State trailed by as many as 15 in the second half but clawed back to 75-69 with 1:10 left after Gary Chivichyan and Ali Faruq-Bey hit back-to-back 3-pointers. Denver sealed it at the line.

Freshman Joe Rosga added a season-best 20 points for Denver (4-1).

Denver's first four baskets of the game were from 3-point range and the Pioneers finished with eight. It was Engesser's third game this season with at least five 3-pointers.

Engesser scored 15 of Denver's 41 first-half points as the Pioneers held an 11-point edge. Denver made 14 of its 21 field goals (67 per cent), including 8 of 13 3-pointers, in the half.

Faruq-Bey finished with 18 points for Idaho State (2-2), and Ethan Telfair had 12 points and eight assists.
