Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks are headed into yet another uncertain off-season after failing to advance in the playoffs for the fourth straight year since winning the franchise's first championship.
Dallas, ousted in the first round by Houston in five games, will have 11 free agents if leading scorer Monta Ellis and others opt out of their contracts.
Facing yet another roster overhaul, Nowitzki said Wednesday he would be willing to come off the bench in his 18th season. But that will depend on who the Mavericks get in free agency after the trade for Rajon Rondo flopped, leaving them without a potential building block.
The Mavericks also aren't sure about the only young core player they have under contract, with Chandler Parsons set for surgery on his right knee.
