Clay Matthews has missed a second straight day of practice after coach Mike McCarthy said he was holding out the Green Bay Packers' star linebacker as a precaution because of knee soreness.

Matthews watched in a white cap on the sideline while teammates went through practice Tuesday morning.

Matthews has been to five Pro Bowls. He insisted Monday that he would be fine.

Also Tuesday, running back Eddie Lacy was pulled near the end of practice because of what McCarthy said was a sore foot.

Receiver Jared Abbrederis remains out with a concussion.
