Pittsburgh and women's basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio have reached an agreement on a new contract that will run through the 2020-21 season.
The deal announced Friday comes after McConnell-Serio guided the Panthers to a 20-12 mark in 2014-15 and the program's first NCAA Tournament berth in six years. McConnell-Serio is 154-100 in eight seasons as a head coach, including a 31-32 mark at Pitt. McConnell-Serio, a Pittsburgh native, is also a two-time Olympic medallist , former WNBA Coach of the Year and a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
Athletic director Scott Barnes called the turnaround McConnell-Serio has guided since being hired at Pitt in 2013 "remarkable."
