Carson Puriefoy scored 23 points and Stony Brook trounced Maine 81-54 Monday night.
Puriefoy was 6 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 8 from beyond the arc, for the Seawolves (16-4, 7-0 America East). Rayshaun McGrew scored 14 points, Jameel Warney had 12 points with 12 rebounds and three blocked shots, and Lucas Woodhouse added 12 points with seven assists. Stony Brook shot nearly 61 per cent and hit 10 of 14 3-point attempts. The Seawolves held a 41-22 rebound advantage.
Maine (6-13, 2-4) was led by Devine Eke with 11 points. The Black Bears were 5 of 18 on 3-point attempts and shot just over 33 per cent overall.
Stony Brook raced out to an 11-2 lead, including a Puriefoy 3-pointer — and closed the half on a 16-4 run over the last 8:18 to lead 41-27 at intermission.
The lead hit 30 on a Puriefoy trey with 6:30 to go.
