Sunday Stephen Obayan has signed with Real Salt Lake, the team announced Thursday.
The Nigerian midfielder has played for eight teams in 11 years as a professional, including 76 matches with Numancia from 2011-13. The 27 year-old Obayan is an athletic defensive player who is expected to contribute immediately.
The organization also announced a mutual parting of ways with Sebastian Jamie. The Nigerian forward played 33 matches, including 25 starts, after singing with Real Salt Lake in 2014. He scored six goals and had two assists in two seasons.
Jamie likely would have had a backup role after the signing of Yura Movsisyan. He has now signed with Universidad Catolica in Chile.
Real Salt Lake begins training camp Friday.
