The rebuilding Milwaukee Brewers have completed their coaching staff by promoting Double-A manager Carlos Subero to first base coach for the parent club and adding former major leaguer Jason Lane as a coach.
General manager David Stearns announced the hirings on the first day of baseball's winter meetings in Nashville on Monday.
Subero mentored some of the team's top prospects at Double-A Biloxi including shortstop Orlando Arcia and guided Biloxi to the Southern League championship series in 2015. He played six seasons in the minors with Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Texas as a middle infielder.
Lane just finished a 17-year playing career, which included seven seasons with Houston and San Diego.
Manager Craig Counsell will enter his first full season with the Brewers after taking over in May.
