Richard's Boy took command with a furlong to go and went on to win the $59,000 feature by 2 1/4 lengths Thursday at Del Mar.
Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Richard's Boy ran five furlongs on turf in 56.42 seconds and paid $9, $3.80 and $3.20 as the 7-2 second choice.
Holy Lute returned $2.80 and $2.60 as the even-money favourite, while Toowindytohaulrox was another half-length back in third and paid $5.20 to show.
The victory was Richard's Boy's sixth in 10 career starts for trainer Peter Miller.
