Trevor Plouffe broke up Kansas City pitcher Chris Young's no-hit bid with a triple to right field with one out in the seventh inning. Young was relieved by Franklin Morales as the Royals led 1-0.

Young was the American League Comeback Player of the Year last season for the Seattle Mariners. He had surgery in 2013 to correct a nerve ailment that gave him pain in his shoulders and neck and came back to go 12-9 with a 3.65 ERA for the Mariners last year.

He signed a one-year deal with the Royals before this season.
