Flanker David Pocock and utility back Kurtley Beale, both members of Australia's 31-man Rugby World Cup squad, have extended their contracts with the Australian Rugby Union.

Pocock signed for one more year to the end of 2016, staying with Super Rugby's ACT Brumbies. Beale will remain at the New South Wales Waratahs for two more years through to the end of 2017.

Beale has had disciplinary problems in the past, including a $40,000 fine last year for sending an offensive photograph by text to a former team business manager.

The signings announced Friday came on the eve of the squad's departure for a United States training camp and test match against the USA Eagles on Sept. 5 in Chicago.

The World Cup begins in England and Wales on Sept. 18.
