John Russ threw for four touchdowns and 336 yards in the first half as Mercer dominated Stetson 57-14 on Saturday.

Russ completed 16 of 19 passes in the first half and then sat out the rest of the game.

Robert Brown pulled in two passes for 85 yards and Avery Ward grabbed two for 67 yards and one touchdown. Tee Mitchell rushed for 71 yards on just three carries and Alex Lakes totalled 60 yards on 11 rushes for the Bears (2-0).

The Mercer defence shut down the Stetson running game, limiting the Hatters to minus-1 yard in the first two quarters as the Bears jumped out to a 51-7 lead at the break.

Mercer finished with 623 total yards while holding Stetson (1-1) to 43 yards rushing.

Darius McGriff caught five passes for 84 yards for the Hatters.
