Erik Mayer threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Gay with 8 seconds left to give the San Jose SaberCats a 70-67 victory over the Arizona Rattlers on Saturday night in the Arena Football League's National Conference championship game.
The SaberCats advanced to the ArenaBowl next week in San Jose against the winner of the American Conference title game between Jacksonville and Philadelphia.
Arizona, the league champion the last three seasons, took a 67-63 lead with 40 seconds left on Nick Davila's 8-yard touchdown pass to Kerry Reed.
Meyer completed 24 of 37 passes for 351 yards and nine touchdowns.
Davila was 22 of 37 for 260 yards and eight touchdowns.
