Greg Peters has announced his resignation as SANZAR's chief executive to take up a new role with Argentinian rugby.

After five years as head of SANZAR — the organization which operates Super Rugby and the Rugby Championship — Peters will take up the post as general manager of Argentine rugby union. He will oversee the running of Argentina's first Super Rugby franchise, which will enter the competition next season.

The New Zealander has previously been chief executive at Wellington Rugby and the Hurricanes and also held senior management roles with the New Zealand Rugby Union.

In a statement Thursday, Peters says "This is the right juncture to seek a new professional opportunity." He will remain in the SANZAR job until a date to be determined.
