Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews picked up an early wicket as Pakistan went to lunch at 62-1 in its second innings on the third day of the second test Saturday, after having given up a 177-run deficit on first innings.
Mohammad Hafeez was caught at slip by Kumar Sangakkara for eight with the total on nine. At lunch, Ahmed Shehzad was batting on 39 with Azhar Ali on 14, with the pair having added an unbroken 53 runs for the second wicket.
Earlier leg spin bowler Yasir Shah finished with 6-96 as Pakistan dismissed Sri Lanka for 315 in its first innings. Pakistan made 138 in its first innings.
Kaushal Silva top scored with 80 and Mathews made 77.
The day's play started after a rain delay and the overnight last pair added 11 to the total before Shah had Dushmantha Chameera caught by Younis Khan.
It was Shah's second five-wicket haul in an innings in the series. He took seven wickets in the second innings of the first test in Galle helping Pakistan to a 10-wicket victory.
