Alexis D'Aoust scored twice and set up two more as the Shawingan Cataractes opened the 2015-16 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season with a 7-2 win over the host Rimouski Oceanic on Thursday.
D'Aoust, a fourth-year right winger coming off a 57-point season, scored his goals three minutes apart early in the second period to give his club a 4-1 lead.
Gabriel Slight also had a pair of goals for the Cataractes (1-0-0) while James Phelan had a goal and two assists.
Alex Pawelczyk and Nicholas Welsh also scored for Shawinigan, which got a 31-save outing from Antoine Samuel.
Anthony Chapados and Alex-Olivier Voyer supplied the offence for the Oceanic. Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 14-of-20 shots before giving way to Charles-Antoine Poirier-Turcot, who turned away 5-of-6 shots in 13:10 of relief.
The Cataractes went 2 for 4 on the power play while last year's President's Cup winners scored once on six chances with the man advantage.
