Shawn Long scored 25 points with 16 rebounds and Louisiana-Lafayette ran over Loyola New Orleans 106-62 on Wednesday night.
Long was 8 of 13 from the floor and the Ragin' Cajuns shot over 52 per cent as a team. Jay Wright had 13 points, Johnathan Stove and Tyrone Wooten had 11 apiece and Devonta Walker added 10.
Johnny Griffin paced Loyola with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting.
An 11-0 run early in the game — including 3s by Jay Hedgeman and Long —opened things up for the Cajuns. Another nine-point run later in the frame enabled Louisiana-Lafayette to lead 50-33 at intermission.
The lead hit 30 points midway through the second half after Long made a free throw, layup and dunk.
NAIA member Loyola made one basket in the final four minutes of the game.
