Shrinking Violet ran away with the $92,530 Daisycutter Handicap, beating Home Journey by 4 3/4 lengths Friday at Del Mar in the turf race for fillies and mares.
Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Shrinking Violet ran five furlongs in 56.53 and paid $5.80, $2.60 and $2.40 for her eighth victory in 19 career starts. The 5-year-old mare, owned and trained by Wesley Ward, earned $50,460 to push her total to $454,728.
Home Journey returned $2.40 and $2.20, and Our Pure Creation paid $9.20 to show.
